Every year, I tell myself I’ve done enough decorating. My home is spooky, sparkly, and delightfully haunted. Then Pinterest whispers, Instagram nudges, and suddenly my imagination is sprinting far ahead of the calendar. Ideas pile up faster than I can crochet, glue, print, or even think. Time: 0. Inspiration: 1,000.
Candy Corn Crochet Garland
This week’s main project is a candy corn garland for our mantle. I stumbled on an adorable pattern for stuffed crocheted candy corn and instantly knew it had garland potential. The original pattern can be found here. Now the wheels are spinning like a pumpkin-spiced hamster on espresso.
Pumpkins. Ghosts. Witch hats. Black cats. There are so many tiny Halloween shapes begging to be strung up in festive fashion. Realistically, candy corn gets the spotlight this year. I have just a couple more pieces to finish before I string them together. Pictures will be hitting Instagram soon if you want a sneak peek!
Naturally this got the wheels turning and I thought “I can make a garland out of pumpkins, ghosts, witch hats, black cats… all kinds of stuff”. Now, I don’t really have the time to make ALL of those things but I did start working on the candy corn garland. Its still in process and I only have a couple more to finish before I string them together. I’ll be sure to post some photos on Instagram.
Inspiration Everywhere: Cauldron Tower Craft
One of my favorite finds this month came from a compilation on Instagram: a tower of cauldrons. The original post leaned heavily into Harry Potter vibes, but inspiration is versatile. Themes are made to wander.
Speaking of adaptable creativity… I’m actually applying my love of fantasy to my wedding next year. Elegance and refinement? Lovely. Swords and armor? Even better. While it complicates the search for supplies (everything either looks pirate-y or medieval!), it has opened the door to incredible crafting discoveries. EVA foam armor? Yes, I just learned that yesterday and I’m still buzzing.
We’ll save the wedding lore for another day. Back to Halloween.
Real Talk: 3D Printing Takes Time
As magical as a cauldron tower is, my 3D printer and I are having a timing disagreement. The file I’m using takes roughly 12 hours per print at the size I want. Add in other projects waiting their turn… the cauldron tower might end up being a Halloween 2026 situation. Crafting patience is a virtue, right?
Paper Mache Eyeballs and Ghosts
I also found a simple paper mache ghost DIY that sparked visions of a whole spooky… eyeball situation? Classic structure: paper, glue, a balloon (hello, elementary school flashbacks). I might experiment with this one next week. Research and development stage only. Don’t expect a full ghost army. Yet.
